019The Gingerbread Girl Bakery supplies bread and other baked goods to various cafes and delis in London, among them the wonderful contribution to the shops in North Barnes called Spoonful,  the famous Real Cheese Shop in Barnes, the great, new contribution to the Pimlico scene, Pimlico Fresh, and the truly excellent and always wonderful cafe at Bibendum

In addition to the signature fruit loaf, we specialise in true sour dough bread (no yeast) and also bake a range of sweet things.  All of our flour is organic.  We buy English spelt and wheat flour grown and milled at Gilchester’s in Northumberland and rye flour milled at Stoat’s Flour at Cann Mill in Dorset.  The range of products is changing all the time and currently includes:

Sour Dough Bread:  Chewy and satisfying, this bread has no yeast, is started with rye sour dough, and can be completed with rye, wheat, or spelt flour – or a combination.  Further, it can be plain, or stuffed with fruit, seeds, nuts, spices – or anything you like.  Contact us to discuss developing a unique bread range for you and your customers.

Yeasted Bread:  Made with spelt, whole wheat, white, rye or a combination, this bread is made in small batches and raised slowly for a better flavour and texture.  Some people like their bread plain and simple and other like their bread with bits.  See below for more ideas and contact us to discuss developing a unique bread range for you and your customers.

Fruit Bread:  This is a yeasted bread full of apricots, raisins, figs, and dates.  Amazing toasted, even more amazing with cheese.  It can be made with any kind of flour to suit you and your customers.  This is very nice with 50% whole wheat or malted whole wheat and 50% white; or 90% white with 10% rye.

Fennel Seed and Raisin Bread:  This is a yeasted bread, with gently roasted fennel seeds and raisins and is particularly good with cheese.  It can be made with any kind of flour to suit you and your customers.  This is very nice with 50% whole wheat or malted whole wheat and 50% white; or 90% white with 10% rye.

Mixed Spice Bread:  This is a yeasted bread with a fun mix of cumin, coriander, fennel, sesame, and sunflower seeds.  It is wonderful with soup or with hummus or with just about anything you can spread that is savoury.  It can be made with any kind of flour to suit you and your customers.  This is very nice with 75% whole wheat and 25% white.

Mixed Seed Bread:  This is a yeasted bread with a mix of sunflower, pumpkin, and sesame seeds.  It is buttery, indulgent and satisfying and makes a fantastic sandwich.  It can be made with any kind of flour to suit you and your customers.  This is very nice with 50% malted whole wheat and 50% white.

Cinnamon Buns/Chelsea Buns:  gooey and delicious, these are an amazing companion with a cup of coffee and the smell!  Oh!  The smell!

Wheat Free Carrot Cake:  For people with a wheat intolerance (or even people without one) this is an amazing cake. It has very little sugar or oil because it is packed full of ground almonds and is still light as a feather.

Carrot Cake:  Dense, moist and spicy with tiny, syrupy ginger bits , this cake is incredible.  It can be iced or not iced as a round cake, or un-iced to serve as a square cake – more of a pudding – with cream on the side.

Wheat Free Almond Cake:  chewy and delicious, this cake is perfect as a pudding or with a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon.

Best Ever Brownies:  no need to say more.

Famous Gingerbread Girl Cup Cakes:  moist, light and delicious in two flavours with a variety of unusual icings such as rose and lavender to make us think of spring!

Butter tarts:  Kind of like a pecan pie, but better.  These individual tarts are full of buttery deliciousness and have raisins in them for one of your five a day!
